Origin

According to the legendary tag-team duo Merriam and Webster, a turnbuckle is a device consisting of a metal link with screw threads at both ends, used in industrial purposes to tighten a rod or stay. According to the late WWF great Andre the Giant, the turnbuckle is what you throw your opponent up against shortly before delivering a thundering elbow of doom. Which makes it fortunate that the new Turnbuckle cotton twill shirt from Bonobos has reinforced elbow pads. Because this thing is the real deal, a work shirt sturdy enough for a cage match, but handsome enough for “Pretty Boy” Floyd; tough enough for a Rope-a-Dope, sleek enough for front row seats at the Garden; substantial enough to function almost as a jacket, light enough to be worn handsomely beneath one. The Turnbuckle is everything you could ask for in a heavyweight world champion. Everything and then some.

The Turnbuckle is made from a heavyweight 100% cotton twill fabric, and features the double button-closure front pockets found in classic work shirts. The cuff plackets have pop stitching in contrast thread, and the elbows have reinforced pads for extra durability. We made the Turnbuckle a little more accommodating in terms of fit, to give you some room if you decide to wear it as a shirt-jacket.

Great weight - good for fall through to a light spring jacket. Can be worn as a thick winter shirt or a lighter shirt jacket.
Fabric - it's really soft and comfy, but also feels very durable. It makes me want to go out and chop wood

I'm about 6'2", weight 200 pounds and I'm a Large in this shirt. I'm a large in Bonobos Oxfords too, but this does run larger as it's meant to have the versatility of a shirt jacket.
Agree with @XcelNinja by William: Had some reservations initially (also had to send in for a size smaller...suggest you do the same) but I love it now. Comfortable to wear around at home, sturdy enough to go chop firewood (or the Xmas tree) and warm enough to spend time on the ice. Works well with a beard.

Looked in the mirror this morning, and initially wasn’t that thrilled with the look. My reflection reminded me of my dad.

Today, I paired it with our Gun Smokes Bull Denim Pants and was complimented on the look today by my doorman, my barista, and a number of cohorts at BONOBOS HQ. My attitude towards the looked evolved over the day and this shirt is definitely a keeper.
