Long before it was a Jazz Age dance, centuries before it was a delicious candy bar, Charleston was an elegant port city of palmetto-lined plazas and garden-shaded gazebos. The type of place where afternoons lingered and summers turned sultry, to be cooled with light cotton clothing and a chilled mint julep. A place where seersucker reigned – and still reigns – supreme.
So why not add one more dimension to the legendary name, in the form of a jacket and slacks that would look more than at home strolling along Broad Street on the way to dinner, or at a wedding soiree down by the Harbor? Why not, indeed. Introducing: the Bonobos Charleston, a cotton suit of lightweight seersucker, ready to add some Southern charm and classic elegance to any warm-weather engagement, social or otherwise.
The Charleston is 100% cotton seersucker, and features Oxford cloth side lining and solid tonal poplin back lining, with an interior butterfly back to lend it a shapely silhouette. The interior is accentuated with contrast piping for a subtle dash of inner flair. The buttons are made from real shell and the sleeve buttons are non-functioning, should you desire adjustments, and the design features the new tailored fit of our latest Bonobos suits.
Bonobos has toiled long and hard to make the fit of our suits this year even better. We made the fit across the chest snug but not constraining for a trim look that's also comfortable. We made tailoring it to perfection even easier by making the button cuffs non-functioning. We boosted the heft of the pockets and interlining for added durability, and narrowed the lapels for a more modern look. We kept the same great attention to detail and appreciation of fine European fabrics and old world craftsmanship. If you've tried one of our wonderful suits before, you'll be amazed at how far we've come. If you haven't tried one before, now's the time to jump in the boat.
