Breton Wader
The French Breton stripe pattern has been cool since . . . heck, who are we kidding? It’s always been cool. Those white and navy bars, that suave je ne sais quois, a nonchalant lean and a casual shrug of the shoulders – a look that’s dependable, classic, and chic. Just ask James Dean, Jacques Cousteau, Coco Channel, or any of the countless icons who’ve lent their torsos and talents to this timeless nautical pattern. You want casual cool? Mon frère, this is it. And now BONOBOS has a Breton stripe to call its own.
The Breton Wader is our own unique take on a legendary Gallic style; a fashion favorite with a BONOBOS twist. We used the customary 100% cotton yarn and contrast white and navy stripe pattern that two centuries of tradition mandates, but updated the look with blue pop stripes at the hem for a playful wink of color. Worn comfortably snug around the shoulders, paired with jeans or light cotton slacks, the Breton Wader will generously endow you with some je ne sais quois of your own, whether it’s at a bohemian café on the Rive Gauche, a windswept beach outside Trauville-Sur-Mer, or simply your next Friday night with the guys, having a beer with your burgers and freedom fries . . . er, French fries. Whichever. (Cue casual Gallic shrug).
