What you need to know

A night still and starlit at watch upon the deck, a dark shape preceding a burst of salty spray, and . . .

Thar' she blows, a cotton cardigan to weather the squalls, a shawl collar sweater stately enough for the captain himself! Introducing the Ahab, the natural follow-up to our wildly popular Ishmael sweater. Just like the Ishmael, the Ahab looks harpoon-sharp with a maritime-inspired shawl collar and heavy-gauge cotton yarn; unlike the Ishmael, the Ahab is a buttoned cardigan in a subtle oatmeal shade. And perhaps even more appealing than its classic nautical elegance is its pure versatility – the Ahab can ferry you from a formal dinner in the captain’s quarters to a wild night down by the docks in no-time flat, as it goes as well with a shirt and tie as over a Henley or even a graphic tee. So do Melville and yourself proud in a garment worthy of all the dashing adventure that such a name implies.

The Ahab is also machine washable on gentle cycle, meaning it's incredibly easy to wash out the sea spray after a long voyage.

Customer Reviews

Great sweater, but consider sizing down one size

I would consider sizing down. I ordered a small and it was too wide across the chest, too long in the sleeves, especially compared to Bonobos dress shirts. Just bigger everywhere overall. It's also very heavy, but is well made.

Great sweater...QUALITY issues

Great sweater. Questionable quality. It came in with the sewing slightly undone on one arm. I had my dry cleaner fix it but still a tad disappointing to see quality issues plague a good product. Bonobos, we expect better! Please deliver better quality.

Thick & hefty, soft & comfy

Big fan of this sweater. Really good weight, nice and heavy, but it's soft. More versatile than I expected too and I've worn it in a number of settings. Compared to most of the other sweaters on our site, this one're pretty heavy/thick. Haven't had it for long but it feels durable. Sizing - I'm 6'2" and about 200. I wear a Large. If in doubt, I'd size down, but I'm the size I thought I'd be. Disclaimer - I work at Bonobos. I'm @johnbonobos on twitter.
