Andy Dunn on the removal of Big Chimpin’

Followers of our blog know we recently poured our creative energies into a marketing effort called PrimateSwimwear.com, the capstone of which was a video called Big Chimpin’, wherein a hilarious little chimp orders a pair of Nanners from Bonobos and meets up a few beautiful women for a poolside dance party.
However, after researching the issue and consulting with our friends at Lola ya Bonobo, the sanctuary we sponsor in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we decided that the video didn’t align with our values. CEO Andy Dunn has more in today’s Daily Banana:

I always wonder why companies don’t check whether something aligns with their “values” prior to doing it.
Perhaps you need someone focused on corporate social responsibility…

That’s a really good point. Paradoxically, you never know about all the things we choose NOT to do. It’s only the mistakes that get attention! In any case, we’re young and still figuring out who we are as company. This experience was an awesome step forward in that regard. Thanks for reading! We’re proud to have you as a customer.
