About Bonobos

Jobs - Operations and Warehouse Ninja

Bonobos is one of the fastest growing fashion startups in America. In under two years we have grown from a team of two to a team of 20 and are on pace to sell more than 35,000 pairs of pants this year, direct to our customers on www.bonobos.com.

We believe this is because we are trying to do something unique: building a premium men's brand, powered by awesome products, customer service and technology.

One aspect of our business that make us unique is that we currently do all of our warehousing and fulfillment in-house. We've recently moved to a new space to make room for all of our people and products, but we're still striving to improve our organization and want you to lead that charge. Your job is to come in, clean up our act, and create order from day one in regards to our inventory, our order fulfillment, and how various areas of our company interact with those two areas through you as the gatekeeper. We’re looking for a Ninja who is passionate about Bonobos, organization, and building efficient processes to take our daily operations to the next level.

We offer competitive wages and offer equity incentives to employees. As with all of our employees, we want you to be excited to own a piece of the company and to work hand in hand with the rest of us to build a game-changing business.

Responsibilities

As with all positions at a rapidly growing start-up, expect to take on a wide variety of responsibilities and have your job change on a frequent basis. Some core responsibilities will definitely include:

  • Personally packing and shipping a lot of those 35,000 pants we're going to sell this year and bringing order, organization, and efficiency to that in-house process.
  • Being the gatekeeper of our inventory. Taking the lead to constantly build and upgrade the processes around our inventory management.
  • Doing what it takes to make sure that every order placed before 6pm get picked, packed, and shipped in time for the 6:30pm shipping deadline.
  • Performing daily inventory checks and insuring that we always know exactly what's available for sale in our store. Organizing and leading periodic full inventory audits of every single trouser, sample, and yard of fabric in our possession.
  • Helping our local manufacturers prepare, box, and label goods for delivery so that when they arrive, they're ready to seamlessly fit into your inventory system.
  • Providing constant feedback to other areas of our organization about how we should improve and upgrade our daily operations.

The Ideal Candidate

Attention to detail is your strong suit and nothing gets by you. When people describe you, 'organized' is the first word out their mouth. You have the ability to efficiently turn chaos into order.

We're looking for someone with previous experience in processing, organizing and administrating a warehouse, stock room, sample room, or shipping and production center. While we'd love to find someone with significant inventory management experience, a candidate can impress us by demonstrating strong past performance in creating and organizing high-performing processes and systems of organization. If have great work ethic and are passionate about Bonobos, it's just as likely that you'll find success with Bonobos if you're coming to us straight from college or if you're coming to us as the #1 person on the burrito assembly line at Chipotle.

Compensation

We offer competitive wages and offer equity incentives to employees. As with all of our employees, we want you to be excited to own a piece of the company and to work hand in hand with the rest of us to build a game-changing business. We're a rapidly growing company and there's tremendous opportunity to impress us with your work ethic and see your responsibilities and opportunities grow substantially.

To Apply

In order to apply for this position, please send an email to including the following:

  • A few paragraphs about yourself, including why you're the right person to be our Ops and Warehouse Ninja.
  • Pick one of the three cases of common errors below and tell us how you think the mistakes could have happened and how you would help ensure that they don't happen again. It's perfectly fine that you don't know very much about details of our current operations. Feel free to make assumptions.
    1. A customer named Chase Utley, who lives in Philadelphia, just called because he received a package with his name and order number on the shipping slip, but the contents of the package were the order and invoice for a customer named Jonathan Broxton, who lives in Los Angeles. How could this have happened? How would you prevent it from happening again?
    2. A customer wrote us an email saying that he ordered the Midnight Blues trousers in size 34, but that he received a pair of navy blue shorts in size 34. All of the details were correct on his invoice and his package, but the product he received wasn't the product on his invoice. How could this have happened? How would you prevent it from happening again?
    3. We just received an order for a pair of Brothers Grinn Browns in size 32, but we're packing the order and can't find any on the warehouse shelf that is supposed to have size 32 Brothers Grinn Browns. In our electronic inventory, it says that we should have two of these items, but we can't find them anywhere. How could this have happened? How would you prevent it from happening again?
